Who we are

The SonobeatRecords.com website is owned and operated by Sonobeat Historical Archives (“we”, “us”, and “our”) and hosted in the United States of America by HostPapa, Inc. Sonobeat Historical Archives, located in the United States, is a collective of the heirs of Sonobeat Recording Company and Sonosong Music Publishing Company co-founder Bill Josey Sr., who died in 1976. We provide historical information about singers, songwriters, and musicians who Sonobeat Recording Company recorded in Central Texas during the period 1967-1976, as well as facts about and insights into the Central Texas music scene, and particularly that of Austin, Texas. We also issue digital editions of recordings made by Sonobeat Recording Company during the 1960s and 1970s, but we do not sell anything on our website. All our digital releases are offered through third party online services, such as Apple Music and Amazon Music, to which we provide links. We do not control the privacy and cookie policies of these third party services and suggest that you review their respective privacy and cookie policies.

You may contact us by sending an email to privacy@sonobeat.com.

How we use the information and data we collect

We use the information and data available to us from Google Analytics, Site Search 360, and HostPapa to better understand who visits our website and from what parts of the world, the number of unique visitors, how visitors navigate within our website, and the search queries visitors make within our website. This helps us improve the design, flow, and content of our website. We use the information and data collected by CookieBot to assure compliance with website privacy laws around the world. However, we do not use information or data we collect to serve you tailored advertising or personalize your experience on our website, except to direct you to pages on our website responsive to your search query when you make a Site Search 360 search or to help you reach websites and online services, such as Apple Music, that we mention or link to.

When you contact us directly by email, we use your email address and the content of your email, which may contain personally identifiable information, to respond to your inquiries and comments. We do not provide your email address or any other personally-identifiable information or data about you to any third party unless you expressly ask or authorize us to do so. Similarly, we do not initiate email contact with you for marketing purposes, but our responses to email you send us may contain marketing information we believe to be responsive to your inquiries or comments.

Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information and data we receive from Google Analytics, Site Search 360, HostPapa, and CookieBot and that we collect directly, we cannot assure you that this information and data will never be disclosed in a manner inconsistent with our Privacy and Cookie Policies. It is an unfortunate feature of the internet affecting all websites that data theft occurs and that stolen data is used in harmful ways by malicious actors.

We do not use or transfer personally-identifiable information or data about you in ways unrelated to the uses described in our Privacy and Cookie Policies without first giving you the opportunity to opt out of these unrelated uses.

Although we may access and review the information and data collected by Google Analytics, Site Search 360, HostPapa, and CookieBot when you visit our website, we do not retain that information. We retain only information and data you provide to us directly, for example, through email communications you send us. Although you can request that we erase any of your personal information and data in our possession, we do not control or have the ability to erase information collected by Google Analytics, Site Search 360, HostPapa, or CookieBot. If you request us to erase your personal information in our possession, we will do so, except that we will not erase and will continue to retain information that is necessary for our legitimate business purposes (for example, we will retain information you provide us via email about artists Sonobeat recorded or that correct factual errors on our website) and to comply with law and regulations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with investigations, enforce our Terms of use and Privacy and Cookie Policies, and take other actions permitted by law. Cookies

To enhance your experience while visiting our website, our web pages use “cookies” to, for example, help you navigate our site or navigate to third party websites we mention or link to, conduct in-site search queries, and provide us with website usage statistics. Cookies are text files placed and stored in your computer’s web browser database. Cookies, by themselves, do not tell us your email address, name, or other personally-identifiable information. If you choose to furnish us with personally-identifiable information or data, such as through email communications, this information and data may be linked to the data stored in the cookie.

As we mentioned above, we, Google Analytics, Site Search 360, HostPapa, and CookieBot set cookies on our website. According to the privacy policies of those third party websites, these cookies do not store any personally-identifiable information. Most modern web browsers provide tools that let you permit, deny, limit, and erase cookies set by websites. Learn more about website cookies at the Cloudflare website.

“Do Not Track”

Most modern web browsers provide a means for you to automatically send a “Do Not Track” request to the websites you visit. California Business & Professions Code Section 22575(b) provides that California residents are entitled to know how our website responds to “Do Not Track” browser settings. Because there is not yet any internet industry consensus as to the meaning of “Do Not Track” in this context, like many other websites and online services, we do not alter our practices when we receive a “Do Not Track” request from a web browser. Learn more about “Do Not Track” at the Do Not Track website.

The California Consumer Privacy Act

The California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), which became effective on January 1, 2020, requires that any for-profit business that sells the personal information of more than 50,000 California residents annually, or has an annual gross revenue exceeding $25,000,000, or derives more than 50% of its annual revenue from selling the personal information of California residents must provide California residents the right to opt out of having their data sold to third parties, request disclosure of data already collected, and request deletion of data collected. Although SonobeatRecords.com does not meet any of the threshholds under the CCPA (we do not sell your personal information, nor do we have gross revenue exceeding $25,000,000, nor do we make more than 50% of our annual revenue from reselling personal information), we afford California residents the same rights under the CCPA as if we did meet the criteria. Our data collection policies are described on this page, and, if you are a California resident, you may exercise your CCPA rights by contacting us at privacy@sonobeat.com.

Collection of information and data by third party websites and services

Our website contains mentions of and links to websites and online services, such as Apple Music and Amazon Music, operated by or on behalf of third parties, each of which has its own information and data practices that may be different than ours. We do not control the privacy and cookie policies of these third party websites and urge you to review their respective privacy and cookie policies.

Our commitment to security

We maintain appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access to, maintain data security of, and correctly use the information and data we collect online or receive from the third party services we use. The primary method by which we achieve these safeguards is by not collecting personally-identifiable information about you in the first place.

Updates and effective date

From time to time, we may update our Privacy and Cookie Policies. We will notify you when we make material changes to the way we treat personally-identifiable information and data by placing a notice on our website’s home page directing you to this page. We encourage you to periodically check back and review our policies so that you always will know what information and data we collect, how we use it, and to whom we disclose it.

Our privacy and cookie policies described on this page were most recently updated on November 27, 2024, primarily to correct spelling and grammatical errors, add clarity, and add and revise references to third party resources and providers we use, but our policies are in all material respects the same as those which we implemented on February 20, 2012, as updated on January 6, 2016, November 25, 2017, May 6, 10, 12, and 18, 2018, April 23, 2019, May 15, 2019, June 15, 2019, October 14, 2019, November 10, 2019, November 8, 2020, and September 5, 2022.
